The cost of a fluorescent replacement LED tube (T8 1.2metre) of equal brightness to your current fluoresceent tube is about $25 (when bought as a box of 40) but much bigger discounts are given for bulk orders. This price makes LED Tube Lighting the most inexpensive supplier of quality LED tubes in Australia. The T8 1.2metre tube is the most common in use in Brisbane and Australia, and at 18 watts, this tube can replace the 36w to 40w without any loss of brightness. There are of course other shapes and sizes and we supply them all at great prices, but pease call us for a quote. The cost of a fluorescent tube is lower than an LED Fluorescent tube so it can be tempting to keep replacing your old fluorescent tubes, but this does not make economic sense as the table below shows.
We can make your changeover trouble free because we don't sell tubes and walk away. Our price includes an assesment to ensure that you get the right tubes for your fixtures.
LED Tube Installation Costs
Usually there are no installation costs! Our LED tubes have been designed to work with magnet ballasts (the most common form of fixture) so installing them is as easy as changing a light bulb. While we may install a few LED tubes during our free assessment, for demonstration purposes only, we do not provide an installation service for the cost of our tubes. We provide installation instructions, and your regular maintenance team may install the LED tubes and LED fuses (which replace the fluorescent starters) as they would perform any replacement at the end of the life of your fluorescent tubes.
There is a small rewiring cost for fixtures with an electronic ballast, and we have panel electricians that will do that work for you at a very reasonable prices. If you do not have a maintenance team that can replace your tubes please let us know and we can recommend a service that can do this for you.
Example of Costs and Savings over 5 Years
In the chart below, switching saves money in the first year and at least $19,000 over 5 years. The savings comparison below has been kept simple. It is based on 200 tubes burning 16 hours a day 6 days a week.
In reality the savings from switching to LED Tubes will be more than illustrated. There are 3 additional savings that are more difficult to estimate.
1. Maintenance cost of having someone replace the ballasts starters and fluroescent tubes every 2 to 3 years. Our LED tubes last about 6 years if they are left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and they require no starter or ballast, so maintenance costs can be virtually illiminated.
2. The ballasts and starters that are required to allow fluorescent tubes to work also neeed to be replaced every few years. If a ballast fails while an LED tube is installed it does not need to be replaced It can simply be removed. The cost of ballasts and starters is illiminated.
3. The redundant ballast and starter consume a small amount of power, possibly 3 watts or more.
